FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Why is there a long evening gown/tuxedo dress code?
Traditionally a debutante ball, or in fact any ball or gala is
considered to be a formal occasion. As the Committee is recreating
and offering a unique opportunity for everyone to experience a
glimpse into a by gone era and maintain a tradition of yester-year
we request and encourage the guest to fully participate in its
spirit.
-
Where can I rent a tuxedo from?
We are delighted to have the sponsorship of Cameo & Cufflinks –
Wedding and Formal Wear, where gentlemen may rent tuxedos at a
special rate as a Hungaria Gala Ball guests.
Women’s long evening gowns are also available here, but long gowns
may be purchased in numerous stores at very reasonable prices. Other
sources are consignment stores. We do not believe in having to
purchase a new long evening gown for every year. Committee members &
guests frequently wear the same gown year to year.

A charity ball means that the event is a not for profit

A debutante ball’s history is nicely described on our website under
the History – Debutante Waltz heading. Please read it. |
